Description
The "Degree Theses: Stelvio National Park" section aims at stimulating new degree theses by encouraging analysis, study and research on the conservation, communication and valorisation of the Park and supporting the management of the protected area through the participation and active citizenship of the younger generations.
The call intends to promote studies and research on the Stelvio National Park with particular attention to the following themes
a) nature and biodiversity
b) geology, glaciology and hydrogeology
c) forests, pastures
d) landscape, traditional architecture
e) history and culture
f) sustainable tourism, thermalism, sustainable mobility.
The theses may deal with the themes of the Stelvio National Park in their broadest declinations, referring to the meanings and values expressed by international nature conservation acts as well as international conventions such as the Alpine Convention and the European Landscape Convention.
The selection is open to all graduates and undergraduates who have discussed, within one year from the submission of the application, or will discuss a three-year degree or master's thesis, from any legally recognised Italian or foreign university, concerning the conservation, communication and valorisation of the Stelvio National Park.
The award does not envisage cash prizes but a special mention for the works judged most deserving, the possibility to give them prominence through the publication of an abstract on the Park's web site and on the occasion of further initiatives or public meetings to give back the works presented, in order to promote a widespread culture of nature conservation and the resources of the protected areas.
The papers shall be verified by an expert appointed by the Stelvio National Park management structure, with specific competences in the subjects of the thesis. The Park shall individuate, at its unquestionable judgement, the theses deserving of presentation in the Section "Degree Theses: Stelvio National Park", taking into account in particular the relevance to the theme of the selection, the quality, the degree of thoroughness, the methodological rigour, the scientific interest and the originality of the work.
