Description
The new 2024 edition of the Travelling in Europe brochure contains, as in the past, useful travel information on various aspects: documents required for EU and non-EU citizens, currency, shopping, consumer protection, travelling by various means of transport (car, plane, train and ship), travellers' rights, health care, etc. There are many new features this year, here they are:
- The Schengen area is once again being enlarged. Bulgaria and Romania are the latest countries to join, on 31 March 2024, the world's largest area of free movement in which one can travel without a passport. For the time being, controls on persons at the air and sea borders between these two countries and the other Schengen countries have been abolished, while internal land border controls remain in place for the time being.
- Those planning a trip to Austria, Norway or Estonia will have the opportunity to discover this year's European Capitals of Culture, which are Bad Ischl in Austria, Bodø in Norway and Tartu in Estonia, respectively.
- For those who prefer to travel to Ireland or Italy, it will be possible to visit the European capital of smart tourism (Dublin) and the green pioneer city of smart tourism (Grosseto).
