The programme of traineeships in the EU institutions, bodies, offices and agencies provides an opportunity to improve one's professional skills.
EU traineeships' are available in a wide range of areas: human resources, communication, information and communication technology, competition law, environmental policy, external relations, development policy and many others.
Most traineeships last 5/6 months (some may be shorter/longer). EU traineeships are paid (payment varies depending on the host organisation).
Traineeships European Committee of the Regions
The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) offers young graduates the possibility of paid traineeships at its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. These are Cicero Traineeships, training and work placements that allow young people to gain professional experience in an international context by taking part in conferences, forums and seminars on different topics. Requirements:
- be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union or of a non-EU country (including the United Kingdom);
- have completed a full academic degree or have completed at least the third year of higher education (university or equivalent) by the closing date for applications
- have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another EU working language (French or English)
- not have participated in a training period or been employed for more than 8 weeks in a European institution or body.
Traineeships last 5 months and involve a full-time weekly commitment, with a monthly stipend of approximately EUR 1,360.

European Ombudsman: traineeships for young people with disabilities
The European Ombudsman is an independent and impartial body that works to promote good administration at EU level. The Ombudsman investigates complaints of maladministration by EU institutions and bodies and also proactively examines broader systemic issues according to the guiding principles of accountability, transparency and trust.
The training courses will run from 1 September 2024 for a period of 1 year with the aim of helping to build a more effective, accountable, transparent and ethical administration in the EU. To apply, you must meet the following requirements:
- be a national of a Member State of the European Union or of a candidate/accession country;
- have a disability recognised by a national authority or any accredited body;
- have a university degree or be a third-year (or equivalent) student at a higher education institution;
- good knowledge of English.

Traineeships at EUSPA
The European Union Space Programme Agency (EUSPA) is offering university graduates, students and undergraduates the opportunity to undertake an internship at its headquarters in Prague, Czech Republic. The general requirements to apply are:
- nationality of a Member State of the European Union, Iceland or Norway;
- university degree or equivalent, obtained or in the process of being obtained;
- initial experience or specific expertise in one of the Agency's areas of work;
- thorough knowledge of one official EU language and satisfactory knowledge of another EU language. Of the 2 languages, one must be English;
- clean criminal record;
- not having previously completed any other internship at EUSPA.
The Agency offers both unpaid internships of short duration (maximum 3 months) and traineeships of between 6 and 12 months, paid with a grant of EUR 1,400 per month.
