Most people in Europe believe that digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), have a positive impact on their jobs, economy, society and quality of life. This was revealed by the results of a new Eurobarometer survey published on 13 February: https://europa.eu/eurobarometer/surveys/detail/3222?etrans=it
Indeed, more than 60 % of Europeans rate robots and AI in the workplace positively, while over 70 % believe they improve productivity. The majority of Europeans are in favour of using robots and AI to make decisions in the workplace, but at the same time 84 % believe that AI needs careful management to protect privacy and ensure transparency in the workplace.
The survey results align with one of the key objectives of the EU's Competitiveness Compass: integrating digital technologies and AI in the workplace to boost innovation and productivity. The EU has allocated €2 billion under the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and €23 billion under the Recovery and Resilience Facility to support Member States in developing digital skills. In addition, the Digital Europe programme invested EUR 580 million to promote digital competences between 2021 and 2027.
