Description
Chosen for their outstanding achievements in the areas of accessibility, sustainability, digitisation and cultural heritage, Dublin and Grosseto were declared winners at the end of a European jury meeting in Brussels on 28 November 2023.
As the best out of 40 destinations from 21 countries, Dublin and Grosseto stood out for their intelligent and sustainable tourism offer. The winning cities will receive a specially made sculpture and promotional support. Together with the remaining finalist cities, they will become part of a network of smart and sustainable tourism destinations in Europe. This network facilitates the sharing of knowledge and best practices through dedicated seminars and an online guide.
The European Green Smart Tourism Pioneer competition promotes smart tourism in the EU by rewarding cities that stand out for their innovative approach to accessibility, digitisation, sustainability and cultural heritage. The winning cities in both competitions represent a model for smart and sustainable travel.
