Description
The park still retains the charm of a special place because of the historic trees, clothed in foliage down to ground level, which have grown freely in the middle of the meadows.
In spring, the season opens with bulbous plants: first Galanthus nivalis and Leucojum vernum, followed by dwarf irises, fritillaries and muscari, followed by the large blooms of tulips and giant Alliums, combined with herbaceous and tree peonies. The flowering of shrubs such as various species of roses, jasmine, viburnums, ornamental dogwoods, wisteria spireas and clematis are also appreciated.
In summer , shades of green and red foliage dominate. Hydrangeas, roses and large meadow areas with polliniferous species bloom. The dense foliage of the monumental trees offers visitors many cool shelters. Among the new plantings are some rare species such as the fragrant Antarctic beech, Nothofagus antarctica
In autumn, the yellow of beeches, tulip trees, Gynkgo, Liquidambar and the native maples stand out; the red of oaks and American maples of the scotanus and Hydrangee species quercifolia.
In winter, the majestic conifers dominate: spruces and the rare oriental firs(Picea orientalis), sequoias of the species Sequoia sempervirens and Sequoia dendron giganteum, some species of deciduous conifers such as metasequioias and larches, species and varieties with glaucous foliage such as cedars, Abies concolor and Picea pungens. The impressions of the crystallised park covered by the snow cover are remarkable. During the Christmas period, the park hosts the atmospheric Christmas market.
Rules of conduct
- The meadows are walkable. Flowers and bulbous plants are common property and therefore may not be picked.
- All users are asked to cooperate in the collection of dog droppings. Bags are available at the entrances, which must be disposed of in the waste bins after use.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash.
- Disposal of solid urban waste is not permitted in the park's litter bins.
