Discover the Euregio and its initiatives! A series of meetings to get to know the activities of the Euregio, set in the charming Casa Moggioli in Trento. The events are addressed to all citizens of Trentino, South Tyrol and Tyrol for mutual knowledge and discussion.
Third edition of the Euregio Tuesdays: start on 29 October at Casa Moggioli
On 29 October the first Euregio Tuesday 2024 after the summer break took place at Casa Moggioli in Trento: "Representation and participation of the Regions in Europe. The role of regional representations in Brussels", a study conference on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Euroregional Association of Comparative and European Public Law.
"This third edition aims to bring the Euregio closer to citizens: together with our important stakeholders from civil society, we want to show how we implement Euregio projects," emphasises Elisa Bertò, Trentino's representative in the Euregio General Secretariat. "
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Euroregional Association, the participation of the regions in Europe was discussed.
As a network of researchers, researchers and practitioners, our association wants to overcome legal obstacles to cross-border cooperation and contribute to a Euroregional legal system,' said Esther Happacher, professor of law at the University of Innsbruck and president of the Association.
According to Jens Woelk, Professor (Euregio Chair) at the University of Trento, "cross-border cooperation creates added value for citizens by overcoming borders and the peripheral position of territories. The Euregio is a tool for addressing and solving the problems posed by different legal and administrative systems, Woelk added.
Experts Maximilian Fritsch (City of Regensburg), Anne Eppler (University of Kehl) and Alessia Setti (University of Lausanne) initially addressed the role of the regions in the EU legislative process and of the European Committee of the Regions as the representative of the regions in the EU. Practical cases were presented during the panel discussion by officials and institutional representatives, including Martin Bartenschlager, an official from the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, Andreas Prischl (Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU), Vesna Caminades, Director of the Representative Office of the Province of Bolzano in Brussels, Tom Odebrecht (Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia) and Antonella Passarani (Marche Region). Finally, the challenges faced by the representatives of the executive and legislative bodies of other regions were examined in order to draw useful indications for building a better future for the Euregio.
The event was held in presence with the possibility of remote access.
