Description
The platform of the cycle-pedestrian path runs on the road relict of the former S.S. 45bis. Along this route there are existing natural and artificial tunnels interspersed with four stretches halfway up the hillside subject to the risk of rockfall. In order to mitigate these risks, new artificial rockfall tunnels B, C and D were built, for a total length of approximately 325 metres, in addition to a series of protection and mitigation works on the rock walls above.
The section in question, which is open to pedestrians and cyclists, can be travelled as far as the Sperone locality, where, to ensure the safety of patrons, the connection to the SS45bis road is closed for cyclists travelling southbound, at this stage, while waiting for the southernmost section to be built.
In addition, the Province has created, near the Sperone beach, an access from the south for cyclists coming from Limone along the SS45bis, to allow them to safely cycle on the cycle path; this access will be maintained until work is completed on the southern section.
