Description
The organisation of the management of purification plants in Trentino has naturally evolved from the original one with its own staff in the early 1980s, when there were ten or so purification plants in operation, to a more complex form of organisation, which today envisages a synergy between private companies - entrusted with the ordinary maintenance of the plants and compliance with effluent quality standards - and the general public management and control unit, headed by the Purification Agency's Plant Management Service.
The breakdown by capacity of the purification plants in operation sees a clear numerical predominance of small plants, below 10,000 population equivalent served, and the remaining plants are in the range between 10,000 and 100,000 population equivalent capacity.
This significant result is largely the result of the unitary organisational form that the Province has given itself in the construction and management of the plants, which has allowed for the achievement of superior professionalism in all employees, the standardisation of machinery, processes and day-to-day management operations, and a consistent saving of time in unforeseen eventualities, with a significant improvement in overall efficiency, and of course, better performance in economic terms as well, results being equal.
