Description
Albiano is well known for its mining activity, which has made it one of the world's most important centres for the production of porphyry cubes, slabs and tiles.
There is, however, a lesser known and extremely interesting face of Albiano: a mosaic of places rich in biodiversity that deserve to be discovered and known by walking at a slow pace.
With the medium-mountain guide Luca Stefenelli, we will make a day excursion that will show us a great variety of unexpected environments: starting from the historical centre of Albiano, we will climb towards the mountain and then up to the Santa Colomba Lake, which lies on the border between the porphyry zone and the calcareous area of Calisio, with its ancient canopic mines. We will visit the Biotope Le Grave, with its bonsai trees. We will cross wide meadows, mixed forests of firs, oaks, beeches and chestnut trees: once a fundamental source of sustenance for the people of Albiano and today the protagonists of important recovery projects.
