Autonomy Day

On 5 September, the day on which the agreement between Alcide de Gasperi and Karl Gruber was signed in 1946, Autonomy Day is celebrated in Trentino, to emphasise the value of an institutional set-up that has made a fundamental contribution to the peaceful development of Trentino Alto Adige, an example of protection of minority rights.
The day was established on 30 July 2008, with law no. 13.

Description

A special day, with an intense programme of initiatives, also in relation to the 50th anniversary of the Second Statute of Autonomy, which falls this year.
The day will open with the inauguration, at 11 a.m. at Sala Depero in the Autonomous Province of Trento building in Piazza Dante, of the permanent exhibition "La Provincia si racconta. A journey through the history, present and future of Trentino autonomy", curated and produced by the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino. Alongside the exhibition, from 5 September until 31 December 2022, temporary installations in the shape of an 'A', meaning autonomy, have been designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Statute. On the occasion of 5 September, the Castello del Buonconsiglio will be open to the public with free admission. The day will culminate in a ceremony at the Teatro Sociale with a concert by the Sat choir.
