The Protontherapy Centre in Trento is a specialist facility dedicated to the treatment of tumours through sophisticated technology: proton therapy, a type of radiotherapy that uses a beam of protons to irradiate diseased tissue. Its main advantage is that it is able to precisely target the radiation on tumour cells, while sparing healthy tissues and organs. The Proton Therapy Centre started its clinical activity in October 2014 and is one of the operating units at Trento Hospital.
