A participatory process for the design of the new hospital in Fiemme

The participatory process for the new hospital in Fiemme aims to ensure that decisions regarding the location of the new facility are reached through consensusamongst all stakeholders in the local area.

Specifically, the process involves:

• Four thematic meetings with stakeholders
• A round-table discussion with local councillors from theFiemme, Fassa and Cembra valleys
• Three public meetings with the communities of citizens interested in the project
• Listening to citizens, whether individuals or groups, through the submission of proposals and comments 

The stakeholders identified for the four kick-off meetings of the participatory process represent the social and economic fabric of the valleys, including representatives from professional sectors such as architects, engineers, doctors, nurses, environmentalistsand volunteers.

During the working group sessions, they will identify selection criteria centred on the following specific issues to be resolved: 

• The relationship between thenew hospital and other healthcare facilities 
• the issue of reachability, and consequentlyaccessibility and mobility 
• the environmental and landscape impact of the facility
• the socio-economic impactof the new hospital on the local area

To ensure independence throughout the various stages of the process, a Head of the Participatory Processhas been appointed , whois tasked with the following responsibilities: 

• to organise and manage public meetings
• ensuring access to information
• managing relations with all stakeholders.

The participatory processhas the following general objectives:  

• To ensure maximum transparency of information and visibility for everyone’s views
• To ensure that the views and interests of citizensare taken into account in the decisions made by the Provincial Administration and the Valley Community . 

The participatory process will address specific objectives relating to:

• Identifying, through a shared process, a range ofpossible alternatives
• Identifying agreed location criteria
• Limiting the consumption ofnon-urbanisedland

• November and December 2024 – Launch of thematic working groups with stakeholders
• 2025 – January–February
  • Meeting with local councillors
  • Three public meetings with residents on the outcomes of the thematic working groups.
