Minority Conference

The Minorities Conference performs the following functions

• it defines the policy guidelines for the protection and promotion of minorities by verifying the state of implementation of the relevant legislation, also with a view to identifying new interventions
• it expresses a compulsory opinion on the programme of interventions for publishing and information as well as on the conventions and agreements referred to in Article 23, and a compulsory and binding opinion on the subdivision of the provincial fund for minorities; these opinions are disregarded if not provided within thirty days of the date of the request
• expresses agreement on the subject and modalities of the statistical surveys referred to in Article 5.

The conference is convened at least twice a year by the President of the Province. The operating procedures of the conference are established by a special regulation approved by an absolute majority of its members.

The minority conference is composed of

• the President of the Province, who chairs it
• the members of the Provincial Council
• the Ladin Provincial Councillor elected in accordance with Article 72, paragraph 1, letter g) of Provincial Law no. 2 of 5 March 2003 (Rules for the direct election of the Provincial Council of Trento and the President of the Province)
• the President of the Comun general de Fascia
• the presidents of the communities comprising the settlement territories of the Mòchena and Cimbrian populations
• the mayors of the municipalities mentioned in Article 3;
• the representatives of the Ladin, Mòcheno and Cimbrian cultural institutes;
• the sorastant de la scola ladina;
• the heads of the educational and training institutions operating in the territory of the Mòcheno and Cimbro;
• the president of the Union di ladins de Fascia;
• the president dla Union generela di ladins dla Dolomites.

The conference secretariat functions are carried out by the provincial service for the promotion of local linguistic minorities.
