"Three years after the Marmolada tragedy, the pain for what happened remains alive. A sudden and dramatic event that cut short the lives of eleven people and marked their families forever, to whom we wish to renew the closeness of the Trentino institutions, their communities and all of us. The very symbol of the Dolomites and of Alpine identity was transformed on that 3 July 2022 into a place of mourning, carving a deep wound in the collective memory of our communities and of the entire country'. These were the words with which the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, wished to recall the dramatic collapse of the serac that on 3 July 2022 struck and killed eleven mountaineers along the stretch from Pian dei Fiacconi to Punta Penia, on the Queen of the Dolomites.
