"We express, on behalf of the Provincial Council, our deepest condolences for the death of Mattia Debertolis, an athlete from the Italian Orienteering National Team, who worked in Stockholm as an engineer, who passed away last night at the hospital in Chengdu, China, where he was hospitalised following a serious illness suffered during the World Games' opening competition.
His passion, sporting talent and the dedication with which he represented Trentino and Italy on the competition fields will remain an example for the many young people approaching sport. His passing, so sudden and painful, leaves a deep void in those who knew and appreciated him, both as an athlete and as a person'.
Thus the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti and the Provincial Councillor for Sport Mattia Gottardi express their deepest condolences to his mother Erica, father Fabio, his brother Nicolò, his family, his teammates and his entire sporting family.
