"From Samantha Cristoforetti comes an important message for young people: when you study and work hard you can achieve great things. Samantha's is a unique case since she made it into space, but hers remains an example for you who are about to embark on a life journey: learn in order to grow more and more'. So said the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, this morning at the Avio Comprehensive Institute for the connection with the International Space Station (ISS) and with Samantha Cristoforetti, who has been on a mission for a few months since 27 April. It was an exciting morning for the students of the Avio middle school, who were able to talk live with Astrosamantha thanks to the initiative created in collaboration with the MindsHub association, with president Mattia Gasperotti, within the Ambra Youth Plan.
To establish contact with the international space station, it was necessary to establish a radio link with John, an amateur radio operator from South Africa. When the connection was made (only possible by audio), Samantha's voice was immediately clear: 'Here I am, ready...' she greeted the youngsters ready with their barrage of questions. Proud, happy and a little excited about a unique experience, the pupils talked for about ten minutes with the astronaut in orbit 400 kilometres above the earth.
