A young female golden jackal was recovered a few days ago in Marazzone (Bleggio), after being spotted in an obvious state of disorientation on the outside stairs of a house. The animal, weighing about 10 kilograms, had also been observed shortly before on the balcony of another house in the village. Personnel from the Trentino Forestry Corps came to retrieve it and observed the wounds that the jackal had sustained. The female was then entrusted to the care of the veterinarian, remaining under observation for a couple of days: once she had recovered, she was released back into the Bleggio woods. The specimen most probably belongs to the herd in the area and has a good chance of rejoining its own kind.
