"It is a great pride to have President Mattarella here today, in his presence we can see the value of volunteering in Trentino and the strength of our Autonomy, which is shown in the solidarity we bring to other regions in case of need. Volunteering is in our DNA and this day is a source of pride for the volunteers themselves, for whom I believe it will be unforgettable'. This is the comment of the President of the Province Maurizio Fugatti, who was present this morning with the Head of State at the inauguration of Trento European Volunteer Capital 2024. In his greeting, President Fugatti recalled the "expansive force of Trentino volunteering - which with great generosity brings support in emergencies that, even in the recent past, have marked many Italian regions and the international context", referring to the recent interventions of Trentino volunteering in Emilia Romagna and Friuli Venezia Giulia, but also to the interventions, carried out jointly with the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in Moldova, to bring relief to citizens fleeing the war in Ukraine: "we were the first to go into the territory," he said, "and this shows how Autonomy is not and must not be an inward retreat to look after particular and separate interests, but represents, even outside the Trentino territory and even in international relations, a model in which the values of solidarity and collective responsibility take centre stage.
