Sports clubs increasingly work beyond what happens on the court: opening up and dialoguing with the territory, bringing value to the community are assets that, among other things, improve their performance on the market and their ability to attract new recruits. Aquila Basket is an emblematic example of what it means to go beyond 'the logic of mere victory'. Andrés 'Toto' Forray, Argentinean basketball player with Italian citizenship and Aquila Trento's point guard, of which he is captain, and Aquila Basket Trento's general manager Andrea Nardelli, testified to this this this afternoon at Palazzo del Bene, during the meeting moderated by Riccardo Saporiti of Wired Italia.
After all, the team's claim speaks for itself: 51% basketball and 41% activities in the territory. "We started out,' explains Nardelli, 'copying' other international organisations; we then linked up with Ail and four third sector organisations, which then became 15: today we work not with all the Trentino associations, but almost. We have,' he adds, 'an Academy with 56 sports teams, in nine regions, and we also operate in Portugal, Switzerland, England, and Romania'.
