The debate on the return of nuclear power in Italy has returned to the forefront with the panel 'Quale nucleare e a quali condizioni' (Which nuclear power and under what conditions), held today in the Sala di Rappresentanza of Palazzo Geremia, as part of the Trento 2025 Festival of Economics, dedicated to the theme 'Risks and fatal choices. Europe at the crossroads'. An opportunity for debate among some of the most authoritative figures in the energy sector, called to discuss the possible role of the atom in the transition towards a decarbonised economy, in a context marked by climate crisis, geopolitical tensions and global market instability.
Speakers included Luigi De Paoli, professor emeritus at Bocconi University, Luigi Paganetto, honorary president of the Tor Vergata Foundation, Marcello Zacchè, journalist for Il Giornale, Giovanni Battista Zorzoli, former president of AIEE, and Nicola Rossi, Head of Innovation at Enel and member of the board of directors of the newly-formed Nuclitalia, a company owned by Enel (51%), Ansaldo Energia (39%) and Leonardo (10%), created to guide the relaunch of nuclear fission power in Italy.
