On the basis of the data contained in the form, the Service responsible for water derivation concessions assesses whether the holder of the water derivation is obliged to acquire a judgement of suitability for use of the water, in particular at the time of renewal of the concession.
The Service shall classify the derivation into one of the following categories
a) exclusive use for self-consumption in the family sphere (domestic use or hygienic use and assimilated); several family spheres co-equal to the concession may also be involved, but in any case not exceeding, in the aggregate, the number of persons indicated in letter c)
b) potable use with the possibility of water supply to third parties;
c) potable use without supply of water to third parties but with a number of persons served greater than or equal to 50 (private aqueducts but of public interest), meaning that on the basis of these parameters the daily volume withdrawn is greater than or equal to 10 m3/day; these derivations have been defined as "private aqueducts but of public interest" by Resolution of the Provincial Council no. 229 of 15/02/2013.
In cases b) and c) it will be necessary to acquire a judgement of suitability for use of the water, with sampling to be carried out at the point where the derivation is made, by request to the Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Integrata del Trentino - U.O. Unità Operativa Igiene degli Alimenti e Nutrizione.

The judgement of fitness for use is issued following an inspection by personnel from the competent structure, with sampling and subsequent laboratory analysis of the water taken; the activity is subject to payment of a lump sum.
A copy of the judgement of suitability of use must be forwarded to the competent service for water derivation concessions for the purposes of the water derivation concession procedure.
If the use of the water derivation concession is classified as "domestic use" or "hygienic and assimilated use" (letter a), the holder is not required to obtain the suitability of use judgement and the concession will be redefined ex officio, at the time of renewal, in the relative type, with reduction of the maximum flow rate to a value not exceeding 0.5 l/s.
For the derivations referred to in letter c) the total number of persons served shall be declared by holders by means of the S-POT (Section C) model.
In the event that the building or area served by the use currently classified as "potable use" is also reached by the public potable water supply, the renewal of the concession for that use may not be granted. The possibility of maintaining the independent concession for domestic use to be exercised by means of a system without any hydraulic contact point with the hydraulic system connected to the public drinking water network may be considered.
