Description
A residential service aimed at supporting personal and parenting autonomy, monitoring the child’s development, and providing support for the social, housing and employment reintegration of pregnant women and parents with young children. The support programme enables parents to acquire the skills needed to look after themselves and their children properly. It can be delivered in various housing settings, either individually or in shared accommodation, and, in particular, at a local level.
Who is it for?
The service is aimed at single-parent families with one or more children and at pregnant women, generally from the seventh month of pregnancy onwards, who are struggling to ensure the care, support and education of their children, and who need support in developing their parenting skills and in building personal, relational, occupational and housing independence.
Accessing the service
Access is normally granted following a referral from the Local Social Services, following an assessment process that results in the drawing up of a Framework Plan. The application is then reviewed by a committee comprising the coordinators of the residential facilities responsible for accommodating mothers and children, and the designated provincial official.
