There are two types of licence for authorised inspectors
- type "A-B" for light vehicles, which permits the overhaul of motor vehicles with a maximum capacity of 16 persons including the driver, i.e. with a total laden mass of up to 3.5t
- Type "C" for heavy-duty vehicles: permits the overhaul of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers with a total laden mass exceeding 3.5t, with the exclusion of those intended for the transport of persons, those intended for the transport of dangerous goods under ADR, and those intended for the transport of perishable goods under ATP controlled temperature conditions.
Authorised inspectors Type "A-B" and Type "C", licensed after 31 August 2018:
- must possess, in addition to the age of majority, certain competence and initial training requirements provided for by the State-Regions-Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano Agreement of 17.4.2019;
- they must sit specific examinations at special Commissions set up by the DGT in order to obtain the qualification;
- are subject to periodic training.
Authorised inspectors Type "A-B licensed by 31 August 2018:
- are subject to periodic training.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
The quiz examination for obtaining the qualification of authorised inspector for light vehicle inspection activities (training modules A-B) is structured on 60 questions in "true or false" mode to be solved in 40 minutes and is considered passed if the errors committed are no more than 4.
The quiz test for qualification as an authorised inspector of heavy vehicle inspection activities (training module C) is structured on 30 questions in "true or false" mode to be solved in 20 minutes and is considered passed if the errors made do not exceed 2.
The practical test involves the use of an overhaul line and a vehicle complying with the type of licence required and is aimed at ascertaining the ability to carry out the technical inspection of a vehicle and the use of overhaul equipment.
In the event of a negative result, the candidate may take the practical test again, subject to submission of an application. The new practical test may not be taken until at least one month has elapsed since the date of the failed test.
A certificate of aptitude will then be issued.
