Public transport: the scale card

  • Active

Users who use the public transport service occasionally can purchase the stepped card instead of one-way tickets.

Description

The scalare card allows the use of all local public transport services in the province of Trento, can be anonymous or nominative, and can be loaded with the desired amount.

The scalar card does not replace either season tickets (which are in any case more advantageous for 'frequent' users) or one-way tickets, but it does bring a number of advantages:

  • it is valid indiscriminately on all means of transport, city and suburban buses and trains throughout the province
  • you can charge as much as you like, from EUR 5 up to EUR 100
  • you no longer have to worry about buying tickets each time
  • you only pay for the journey made, the rest remains as credit
  • the more you travel, the less you pay, with discounts on the next top-up

Who it's for

Trentino local public transport users

What to do

To request a nominative smart card, the user must fill in the smart card request form attached to this page and present it to a Trentino Trasporti or Trenitalia ticket office (the card costs 4 euros).

The anonymous scaled card can be on plastic or paper.

The anonymous plastic card is issued at a cost of 1 euro at Trentino Trasporti SpA or Trenitalia SpA ticket offices. It can be recharged not only at ticket offices but also at the ATMs of the Casse Rurali and at tobacconists of the Puntolis circuit.

The paper scale card is issued free of charge by Trentino Trasporti or Trenitalia ticket offices and sold at authorised tobacconists of the Puntolis circuit. It can be recharged at the same points.

Attached is the leaflet for using the scaled card (both on plastic and paper)

How to use

The card must be validated by bringing it close to the special reader located on board city buses and coaches or on the ground in the case of rail services, as follows

  • on urban buses: you only have to validate once when boarding;
  • on suburban coaches: you must validate both on board and alighting on each vehicle you use (also for journeys with interchange);
  • by train: validation is always done IN STATION at the validators on the ground (FTM, Ferrovia Valsugana, Ferrovia Brennero Trenitalia).
    Remember to validate before boarding the train by pressing the "SALITA" button on the left of the display (or the button corresponding to the number of passengers). In the case of journeys with interchanges or in urban areas (e.g. Trento-Povo) or for several passengers, remember to validate ON DISEMBARKATION at the station by pressing the "DISEMBARK" button on the right of the display.

The anonymous scalar card can also be used for several passengers (up to 6), not counting children under the age of 6 who travel free of charge: when boarding, press the button corresponding to the number of passengers on the validator before approaching the card.
