Description

By Provincial Council Resolution No. 1098 of 17 July 2026, the Autonomous Province of Trento approved the criteria for the award of extraordinary grants intended to support local livestock farms that have suffered financial losses as a result of the IBR/IPV epizootic (infectious bovine rhinotracheitis).

The aim of the scheme is to compensate for the loss of culled animals, to safeguard the income of farming households and businesses, and to help the sector regain its ‘disease-free’ status as soon as possible.

What does this involve?

The measure provides for non-repayable financial aid (capital grant) equal to 100 per cent of eligible expenditure for each head of cattle ordered to be culled under provincial health programmes.

Restrictions

The subsidy is payable only for head of cattle sent to the abattoir by 31 December 2028 that fall into one of the following categories (relating to the period 1 January – 30 June 2026):

  • Animals that have tested positive for IBR/IPV following an official blood test carried out on the farm;
  • Animals for which the Public Veterinary Service has issued a request for diagnostic culling;
  • Animals that tested negative but for which culling was nevertheless ordered as a precautionary measure, as they belonged to an outbreak farm.

Please note (Restriction on the deduction of revenue):

The amount of the grant is calculated on the basis of standard market tables (broken down by the animal’s age group).

Any revenue obtained from the sale of meat to the abattoir and any compensation received from insurance policies will be strictly deducted from the grant due.

Furthermore, this aid cannot be combined with other public grants received for the same costs.

Available resources and priorities The total budget allocated is €900,000.00, spread over the years 2026 to 2029.

Applications will be funded in the order in which they are submitted.

Should the funds for the current year be exhausted, eligible applications that have not been funded will be carried over to the following year as a priority, without the need to resubmit them.
