This is economic support for fathers who request parental leave as an alternative to the working mother for childcare.
Fathers who take parental leave as an alternative to the mother may receive financial support amounting to EUR 400 gross for every 14 continuous days of parental leave taken. The payment for the period of leave must not exceed 30 per cent of the salary.
Periods of parental leave of less than 14 days do not give entitlement to financial support.
Examples:
- if 20 consecutive days of leave are taken, support is granted for 14 days and amounts to €400 gross
- in the case of 40 consecutive days of leave, the contribution is granted for 28 days and amounts to € 800 gross.
If parental leave is taken on an hourly basis, financial support is not granted.
The contributions can be combined with similar benefits provided for by national legislation.
Father requirements
Fathers with care and assistance commitments towards their children, who must be
- resident in the province of Trento and employed as self-employed or with a contract of employment with a private or public employer;
- or resident outside the Province of Trento, but employed in a production unit located in the Province of Trento with an employment contract with a private or public employer.
Requirements for working mothers
- Be resident in the Province of Trento on the date of application;
- For the period in which parental leave is requested, the mother must be
self-employed (in case this self-employed activity is an agricultural activity, support is granted if the mother is registered with the relevant INPS management).
or employed with a subordinate work contract, even part-time
Financial support is not granted if the employed mother is absent from work due to compulsory early retirement, compulsory abstention or parental leave, including for children other than the one for which the father has applied.
For the child for whom parental leave is requested, the parents may at the same time benefit from the facilities provided by Law 104/92.
