Description
Commuters using the rail service on the Brenner or Valsugana lines may be entitled to compensation in the event of train delays or cancellations.
The compensation takes the form of a discount voucher towards the purchase of a season ticket, calculated on the basis of a system that monitors the reliability of rail services.
Each month, the monitoring system calculates the reliability index for Trenitalia’s train services along the Brenner and Valsugana lines (including, for the latter line, services operated by Trentino Trasporti), taking into account train delays and cancellations.
If these indices are exceeded, passengers are entitled to a refund of 10.00 euros, which may take the form of a discount on the purchase of the next season ticket for weekly/monthly season ticket holders, or a refund paid into a bank account in the case of the renewal of annual/half-yearly season tickets.
The reliability index threshold for the Valsugana railway is 1.00 per cent.
The reliability index limit for the Brenner railway is 2.50 per cent.
To view the reliability indices for the Brenner and Valsugana railways, and any instances where these limits have been exceeded, you can download the monitoring table covering the years 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026:
