Become a technical director of a travel agency

The Technical Director is a person in possession of a special qualification who works to guarantee the highest level of professionalism in the services provided by the agency. His presence is an essential condition for the exercise of the activity of travel and tourism agency.

The Technical Director performs the following functions: he supervises the company's activities by taking care of their organisation, planning and promotion, managing human resources and performing functions of a specialised nature concerning the production, organisation and intermediation of travel and other tourist products.

The functions of the Technical Director are normally carried out by the owner of the agency, but if he or she does not have the qualification, he or she must entrust the technical direction to a full-time technical director who is a collaborator of the company and who meets the requirements.

The owner or the Technical Director, if any, must work in a single agency, full-time and on a continuous and exclusive basis.

Access to the position of Technical Director can be obtained in three ways:

• Passing the qualifyingexamination organised by the Tourism Service of the Autonomous Province of Trento, which certifies adequate knowledge of the following subjects: tourism legislation, tourism technique administration and organisation of travel and tourism agencies; tourism geography, transport technique; tourism marketing. • Recognition of the professional qualification of Technical Director of a travel and tourism agency on the basis of qualifications proving possession of certain subjective, educational and linguistic requirements. (see)
