Description
Provincial authorisation must be sought for the construction or alteration of alpine huts, hiking huts and bivouacs (defined as mountaineering facilities). This authorisation is issued by the Co-ordination Committee and applies to works relating to the main buildings and ancillary structures (for example: cableways, water supply and storage systems, wastewater management systems, storage facilities of any kind, helicopter landing pads, hydroelectric power stations and power lines).
Landscape authorisation for mountaineering facilities is granted by the Town Planning and Landscape Protection Service within the framework of the Co-ordination Commission; therefore, authorisation from the Community’s Landscape Commission is not required.
The authorisation from the Coordination Committee does not include:
- an impact assessment for projects affecting, even only partially, protected areas within the Natura 2000 network (Special Areas of Conservation and/or Special Protection Areas) or other protected areas, to be obtained from the Sustainable Development and Protected Areas Service prior to submitting the application;
- authorisations relating to cultural heritage – to be obtained following authorisation by the Coordination Committee;
- authorisations and/or concessions for the protection of public waters, the occupation of provincial water resources, or relating to hydraulic works – to be obtained following authorisation by the Coordination Committee;
- measures referred to in the provisions on the protection of the environment from pollution – to be obtained following authorisation by the Co-ordination Commission;
- a fire safety assessment where the number of beds exceeds 25 – to be obtained following authorisation by the Co-ordination Committee.
