Authorisation for landing, take-off and overflight activities for research-study purposes

Provincial Law 5/1996, within the provincial territories located at altitudes above 1,600 metres above sea level and within protected territories (e.g. nature parks), prohibits taking off, landing and overflying at altitudes of less than 300 metres and 500 metres above ground respectively, with the exception of cases that are strictly provided for, such as, for example, the performance of activities in the public interest or study, research and technical-scientific documentation.

The procedure involves the cost of stamp duty for the application and authorisation.

Subjects intending to carry out overflights, landings and take-offs in the territories protected by the provincial law for activities in the public interest or for purposes of study, research and technical-scientific documentation.

In order to obtain authorisation to carry out flights for research, study and technical-scientific documentation purposes, it is necessary to complete the attached form and send it to the competent office, as indicated on the form.

from 14 April 2025 the new digitalised procedure is now active by filling in and sending the application online through the "Stanza del Cittadino" (Citizen's Room) which can be reached from the link below after identification through SPID (Sistema Pubblico di Identità Digitale), CIE (Carta d'Identità Elettronica), CNS (Carta Nazionale dei Servizi) or CPS (Carta Provinciale dei Servizi) with entry through the 'Citizen's Room'.

There will be an initial trial period with the simultaneous presence of the usual forms and online access via SPID.

The authorisation to carry out the requested activity or its recognition as being in the public interest is provided for by a determination of the General Manager and is communicated in advance to the authorities concerned, in order to allow and facilitate control, the prevention of any dangerous situations and the protection of the territory.
