Application for the Trentino eco-label

The Ecoristorazione Trentino mark may be requested by all operators in the sector based in Trentino, for whom the catering service is the main activity and who offer this service on a continuous basis.

The complete procedure for obtaining the Trentino eco-restaurant mark is as follows:

1. The interested restaurateur downloads the application for the label, fills it in and then sends it to the structure in charge of issuing it, i.e. the Provincial Environmental Protection Agency (APPA);
2. The restaurateur is contacted by APPA, with whom he agrees on the date of the verification visit to the establishment. In the case of catering businesses for which, due to geographical location and/or meteorological conditions and/or other impeding causes, the verification at the business is particularly difficult within the necessary time limits, the verification of conformity will take place exclusively by means of documentation, without prejudice to the possibility of carrying out verifications at the business subsequent to the issue of the mark (see point 8).
3. The restaurateur awaits the preparatory e-mail for the verification visit, in which APPA summarises what has been agreed upon, indicating the documents that will be required to be made available during the verification. In cases in which, for the reasons indicated in point 2, the verification visit does not take place at the business establishment, the verifier will indicate to the restaurateur the documents to be transmitted by e-mail in order to permit the verification of conformity exclusively by documentary means.
4. During the verification visit, which lasts an average of two hours, the restaurateur must make its own structure and the documents requested by the APPA verifier available, with the aim of ascertaining compliance with the requirements for the issue of the Trentino Eco-restaurant mark; the verification visit is in fact carried out in two sequential steps: Documentary verification, during which all the compulsory criteria and all the optional criteria chosen are reviewed and paper evidence (delivery notes, receipts, invoices, etc.) is provided to support compliance with the criteria. Visual verification , during which the verifier conducts an inspection tour of the establishment, accompanied by the caterer, who is required to show how the criteria have been met;
5. The caterer receives the Verification Visit Report from APPA, in which any non-conformities that emerged during the verification phase are reported;
6. In the event that nonconformities are present, the caterer takes corrective action and within 30 days sends evidence to APPA that the nonconformities have been corrected;
7. If no nonconformities emerge during the verification visit, or if they are removed within 30 days, the restaurateur receives the Trentino Eco-restaurant mark from APPA;
8. After issue, periodic inspections are carried out, even without prior notice, in order to detect the maintenance of compliance with the criteria, failing which APPA suspends the use of the mark. In the case of the return of non-compliance in accordance with the established timeframe, APPA reactivates the use of the mark, otherwise it withdraws the mark and the caterer who was the owner may reapply for it no earlier than 6 months from the date of withdrawal.

In the case of catering services, the process is identical, except that there is a specific specification and application form.
