Description
Non-parity schools carry out an organised teaching activity in compliance with the following conditions
- an educational project and the related educational offer, in compliance with the principles of the Constitution and the Italian school system, aimed at the general and specific learning objectives related to the achievement of qualifications
- the availability of premises, furnishings and equipment complying with current regulations on hygiene and safety in school premises and adequate to the function in relation to the number of students
- the employment of teaching staff and a coordinator of educational and teaching activities with professional qualifications in line with the subjects taught and with the school's educational offer as well as suitable technical and administrative staff
- attending pupils of an age not less than that laid down by the school regulations in force, in relation to the qualification to be obtained
Recognition and supervision of non-parochial schools are carried out by the Province, which ascertains the possession and permanence of the requirements. The same may order the cancellation of the school from the provincial list of non-parish schools in the case of the loss of one or more requirements.
Registration on the list of non parochial schools may be requested with reference to the courses of the first and second cycle of education.
The school's registration in the provincial list entails the recognition of its status as a non parish school from the beginning of the school year following the date of acceptance of the application.
Qualifications awarded by non-parity schools
Regular attendance of a non parish school constitutes fulfilment of the education obligation. Non-parish schools cannot issue qualifications with legal value, neither intermediate nor final. Pupils have to take the aptitude test only at the end of the fifth year of primary school, for the purpose of admission to the next level of education or in the case of transfer to a state or parity school. For the purposes of the final State examination of the first cycle of education, pupils attending a non-parish school listed in the provincial register must sit the examinations as external candidates at a State or parity school, in accordance with the provisions in force.
As regards the second cycle of education, in order to be admitted to the State examinations, male and female students must apply, as external candidates, to the competent provincial office.
