Application for dissertation prizes

The thesis must deal with topics of particular relevance for the survey of Trentino's historical, artistic and popular heritage or of particular interest for Trentino's toponymy.

The maximum prize is € 1,549.37.

The evaluation criteria for grading the prize are as follows

1. interest of the theme dealt with in relation to the institutional attributions of the UMST Soprintendenza per i beni e le attività culturali;
2. depth/knowledge of the topic;
3. presence of unpublished and research elements;
4. scientific methodology adopted;
5. construction of bibliography and sitography, citation of archival sources;
6. linguistic and stylistic properties of the text.

Applications with a € 16.00 revenue stamp must be received for the year 2025 by 31 May 2025, for the following years from 01 January to 31 March.

A hard copy of the winning entry shall be acquired for consultation purposes at the libraries of the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage. Therefore, by taking part in the procedure for obtaining the award and delivering the copy of their thesis, the candidate accepts that their thesis will be available for public consultation and will be shared with the UMSt Soprintendenza per i beni e le attività culturali and any relevant public administrations.

Recipients of contributions for dissertation prizes may be persons who have attended a degree course at any legally recognised Italian or foreign university, a three-year degree, a master's degree, a PhD, and have concluded their studies by discussing a final dissertation on the cultural heritage and demoanthropological heritage pertaining to Trentino's historical, artistic and popular heritage and its inventory.

Eligibility for the award is open to persons who graduated no earlier than three years prior to the year of application (for 2025: from 2022, except for applications already submitted on the date of the resolution, which may relate to theses prior to that date) and who have not received other awards or grants from other structures of the Autonomous Province of Trento.

The application, accompanied by a copy of the dissertation, is submitted to the UMSt Soprintendenza per i beni e le attività culturali by sending it to the e-mail address umst.soprintendenza@pec.provincia.tn.it or by delivery in person at its premises, or by registered mail.

The following must be submitted:

• the specially prepared form with privacy policy
• a digital or paper copy of the dissertation
• photocopy of identity card.
