Video-surveillance systems required for organisational and production requirements, the protection of company assets or safety at work, from which it is also possible to remotely monitor workers' activities, may be installed subject to prior agreement with the company trade union representatives. In the absence of these, or in the event of failure to reach agreement with them, the Employment Service is the competent body to issue the authorisation for the Autonomous Province of Trento.

The application must be submitted in the following cases

  • the company intends to install a video-surveillance system at an additional local unit or premises;
  • the company intends to change the mode of operation of an already authorised system;
  • the company needs to obtain authorisation for additional/new requirements.

It should be noted that no application or notification is requiredfor the modification of the system that concerns only the technological components (e.g. addition of a camera, replacement of the monitor) and that does not envisage any change in the methods of use or the purposes pursued.

The procedure must be concluded within 60 days from the date of the request. However, this period is suspended for requests for documental integration that the competent Service makes to the applicant.
