Brevetti+ is the incentive for the economic valorisation of patents, promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development and managed by Invitalia.

Publication date:

Description

The measure, refinanced with a budget of EUR 30 million (of which EUR 10 million in PNRR resources), is aimed at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises for the purchase of specialised services for the economic valorisation of a patent in terms of profitability, productivity and market development.
Beneficiary companies, even newly established ones, must have their legal and operational headquarters in Italy, and must meet at least one of the following requirements

  • Holders or licensees of a patent for industrial invention granted in Italy after 1 January 2019;
  • holders of a national application for a patent for industrial invention filed after 1 January 2020 with a "non-negative" search result
  • holders of a European patent application or an international patent application filed after 1 January 2020 with a search report with a "nonnegative" result claiming priority to a previous national patent application.

The incentive can finance the purchase of specialised services related to:

  • design, engineering and industrialisation;
  • organisation and development;
  • technology transfer.

The incentives provide for a non-repayable contribution up to a maximum of EUR 140,000, which may not exceed 80% of eligible costs. The aforementioned limit is raised to 100% for beneficiary companies that at the time of submitting the application were co-owners - with a Public Research Organisation (University, Research Institutions and IRCCS) - of the patent application or patent granted or holders of an exclusive licence having as its object a patent granted to one of the aforementioned Public Institutions, already transcribed at the UIBM, without territorial extension constraints.

More information on the procedures for the granting and disbursement of contributions can be found by consulting thenotice published by the MISE.

Grant applications may be submitted from 12 noon on 27 September 2022 on Invitalia's website (there are no deadlines: Invitalia evaluates applications on a first-come, first-served basis, until funds are exhausted).
