Responsibilities and functions
The Provincial Commission for Employment, Assistance and Guidance to Workers in Starting Work and for the Control of Job Placement (henceforth Commission) was established by Article 5 of the Provincial Law of 16 June 1983 'Organisation of Labour Policy Interventions'.
The Commission is assigned the following functions in particular
- to analyse the state of employment and formulate a forecast of its quantitative and qualitative development with reference to the various production sectors, also for the purpose of drawing up the plan of employment policy interventions and the vocational training plan
- Drawing up and proposing to the Provincial Council the Document of Labour Policy Interventions;
- to express an opinion on vocational training plans in accordance with the Provincial Vocational Training Act
- to express an opinion on the Province's draft laws on labour and vocational training and on initiatives to support workers' incomes and employment, as well as on any other matter submitted for its consideration by the Provincial Council
- to express an opinion on individual projects concerning restructuring, reconversion, reorganisation and company crises, or concerning new industrial settlements and expansions
- take any other appropriate initiative for the formulation of labour policy
- to carry out functions in the field of employment control.

Employment Policies Committee
The Commission has set up the Employment Policies Committee with the following tasks
- analysis, study and in-depth study of issues concerning the functioning of the local labour market, on the basis of an annual or multi-annual programme of activities, with the aim of making provincial public policies more effective, also starting from a greater integration of them;
- examination of the Labour Policy Interventions Document technically prepared by the Employment Agency for the subsequent approval of the proposal to be submitted to the Provincial Council at the CPI;
- examination of draft laws and acts within the competence of the Provincial Council in the field of labour for the subsequent opinion of the ICC;
- opinion on draft resolutions;
- analysis and identification of the need for non-EU labour to be represented annually to the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, also taking into account the social and occupational absorption capacity of Trentino and the types of nulla osta provided for by the T.U.I.
- the task of carrying out studies and in-depth studies on labour issues to be dealt with in a transversal and organic manner with respect to the various sectors of provincial competence, functional in order to have an overall view of all provincial policies, also for the purpose of drawing up the Labour Policy Plan;
- programming of the maximum number of employment opportunities in Intervention 19;
- examination of appeals on the cancellation from the lists of unemployed persons who are not recipients of state social shock absorbers;
- examination of and opinions on the conditionality rules for unemployed persons registered with the ICCs;
- advisory function in the programming and management of Community-funded actions.
They are also placed within the Employment Policies Committee:
- the steering committee of the General Labour States
- the Provincial Economic and Employment Table
- the Advisory Committee provided for by Article 26, paragraph 2, of Provincial Law no. 3 of 20 March 2000, supplemented by three representatives jointly designated by the local bodies of the associations, bodies and works of a national character of the disabled beneficiaries of the provisions of Law no. 68 of 12 March 1999. This Committee has a consultative function for the elaboration of employment policy interventions in favour of disabled people.
