Description
A stroll with Andreas Hofer, published two hundred years after the insurrection of 1809 that saw the people of the historical Tyrol fight united against the Franco-Bavarian invader, has a different objective from the strictly historiographical and interpretative one. The book, in fact, suggests an unprecedented reading of the famous Val Passiria host. Through the mediation of places, of the dozens of villages, valleys and rivers, of paths and mountains, from Kufstein down to Mantua through Trentino-Alto Adige, respectively the ancient Welschtirol and Südtirol, the reader is able to approach the figure of Andreas Hofer in an indirect but nevertheless emotional way and thus understand the environmental, social and cultural context that characterised the early years of the 19th century. All 35 itineraries are accompanied by tourist notes as well as historical extensions and accompany the reader-hiker with a detailed map. A book, therefore, that serves as a guide for walks and hikes, but also a book more simply to read, enjoying the rich photographic apparatus that moves the pages and nourishes a taste for the curiosity of seeing and knowing.
