Description
The school is the place where the roots of citizenship are laid, where each student creates bonds, participates in the life of all and develops competence. This place is the inclusive school, which has its origins in the Italian Constitution (Articles 2, 3, 34 and 38) as a guarantee not only of a school open to all, but also of fairness and quality. Subsequent legislative acts have declined and protected this right, which is outlined first and foremost as a subjective right of the person with disabilities but also as a legitimate interest when enrolling at school. The various actions of the school community are aimed at the educational success of all, and for students with disabilities one possible pathway is the equivalent pathway that enables them to obtain a diploma. Equivalent tests are individualised (consistent with the Individualised Educational Plan) and may not correspond to a given model, such as the class or ministry test in the examination. In essence, there can be instrumental, temporal, structural or cultural and/or professional equivalence. The equivalence test that provides for diversity in cultural and/or professional content makes it possible to offer an individualised training pathway School is the foundation of citizenship and social participation and inclusion, which must not be limited to technical solutions, requires a cultural transformation that values diversity as an opportunity for social and professional improvement.
