Trentino towards new landscapes. Research into the evolution of the Trentino landscape

by Giuseppe Scaglione, Stefania Staniscia. Department of Urban Planning, Autonomous Province of Trento, 2013

Description

The first volume of the series "Quaderni del paesaggio trentino - materiali di lavoro dell'Osservatorio del Paesaggio", published by the Autonomous Province of Trento, through Step (Scuola per il Governo del Paesaggio e del Territorio), presents the results of an important research commissioned to the University of Trento. The work identified and described the main transformation dynamics of the Trentino landscape in order to understand its current physiognomy, also in relation to identity elements. The reading of the processes of modification and the factors of change formed the basis for determining the tools useful for new forms of protection and valorisation that would coherently follow the current trends. Defining the limits of land transformations and strategies for future landscapes required the development of forecasting tools. The research and project work produced both cognitive frameworks, necessary to determine landscape values and risks and to define areas to be protected and upgraded, and indications for those susceptible to transformation.
