Description
These pages testify well to the commitment of the Province of Trento - in the guise of the Superintendency for Architectural and Historic-Artistic Heritage and the Forest and Fauna Service - in the proper restoration of the farmstead known as San Giorgio in Val di Sella above Borgo Valsugana. In addition to the chapel dedicated to the martyr Giorgio, this ancient Waiz estate in fact includes two mountain farms together with small buildings serving agricultural activities and the bird house, which became public property in 1994. Today, the San Giorgio farmstead is used as a nursery, a centre for the training of forestry workers and a centre for the teaching and dissemination of naturalistic themes, as well as a place for the study of avifauna. The little church has meanwhile been reopened for worship.
