Description
The Plan for the Protection of Forests from Fires (PDBI) of the Autonomous Province of Trento, an instrument in force since 1978 on the basis of a provincial law, has now reached its third revision: it is valid for the decade 2010-2019. This publication, which presents an accurate and up-to-date report, has been prepared by the Servizio Foreste e Fauna - directly responsible for the setting up and implementation of the Plan itself - with the scientific and innovation support of the Agroselviter Department of the University of Turin and various players in the sector. There are two important innovations: a new objective and feasible methodology for forecasting forest fire danger and risk; system-based planning of infrastructural works for forest fire prevention and control.
