Already scrolling through the voluminous index one immediately perceives the importance of this volume, which gives the right historiographical space to the presence of artists of Lombard origin in the Trentino region: a study that has set no geographical limits as the artists themselves worked within the ancient Episcopal Principality, in the Veneto and Friuli territories, and even in Eastern Europe. This work is the result of the collaboration between the Superintendency for Architectural Heritage and the Superintendency for Historical and Artistic Heritage of the Autonomous Province of Trento with the University of Insubria in Varese and various scholars from other Superintendencies, Museums, Research Institutions as well as freelancers. The richness of the relationships formed between architectural and decorative expression - particularly plastic and stucco - is therefore evident, even if, as the editors conclude, the hope is to reknit even more threads.
