Description
The project to be presented in this volume edited by Francesca Sartori is the result of two years of work between a survey that explored the 'before' the moment of choice and the present one that explored the 'after'. The volume proposes a series of evidence, collected on a group of former high school and vocational training students through electronic, telephone and face-to-face interviews, which open up scenarios for reflection on the role that school has played in the life and professional trajectories of these people. Francesca Sartori's rich sequence of conclusions makes us realise how traditional issues (such as the issue of gender, or the cultural capital of families) are still decisive in influencing the orientation process. The school, in managing this process, runs the risk of becoming a place of transition of the social capital that is created outside it, without being able to produce its own to support the orientation process.
