Description
The Autonomous Province of Trento defined and identified the provincial biotopes on the maps of the Provincial Urban Plan (P.U.P.) with Provincial Law No. 14 of 23 June 1986.
Their establishment has helped to halt the rapid disappearance of these precious environments.
The term biotope literally means 'place of life' and identifies small areas, especially wetlands such as ponds, marshes and peat bogs, where plants and animals threatened with extinction live.
The Provincial Service responsible for the protection and management of Trentino's nature reserves issues a series of targeted publications.
