Description
Due to its geographical location, Trentino has always been a place of passage and exchange between Italy and Germany, a crossroads that over the centuries has played host to famous artists such as Goethe, Mozart and, of course, Dürer.
It seemed appropriate to broaden the horizon of the conference to include the theme of the travelling artist: the artist who travels for reasons of commission, but also the artist who produces art during his journey, stimulated by the natural landscapes and human contexts he encounters.
In fact, following Dürer's example, many artists (painters, sculptors, plasterers, architects) would, in the following decades and centuries, follow more or less the same route, to complete their training in Italian cities. Similarly, many Italian artists would take the reverse route, to enter the service of the Habsburg court or the countless princely courts of Germany.
