Responsibilities and functions
The CGIL (Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro), founded in 1906, is the largest trade union organisation in Italy.
It draws up labour contracts through its category organisations and carries out protective action aimed at defending, affirming and winning individual and collective rights, ranging from welfare systems to rights in the workplace.
The Trento Chamber of Labour was founded in 1898. With almost 41,815 members in 2017. The CGIL of Trentino is currently the most representative trade union in the Autonomous Province of Trento
